1. If you have a USB to Serial Adapter plug it in (be sure the Adapter Software Driver is installed first). Go to the Windows Device Manager and to see which COM Port (Serial Port) has been assigned to the adapter (usually COM 4).
2. The Windows Device Manager can be found by right-clicking the “My Computer” icon on your desktop and selecting “Properties”. Or you can go to the Control Panel folder and select "System". Choose the Hardware tab, and then Device Manager.
3. When Device Manager opens, scroll down to Ports (COM & LPT) and expand. The USB Adapter must be plugged in. If the driver has been installed properly you should see a USB Serial Port. In this example it is called “USB Serial Port (COM4)”.
4. Right click the USB Serial Port and go to Properties. Check to see that the port is functioning properly.
5. Verify the USB Serial Port is set to any one of COM Ports 1 through 9 (ShockClock Software does not support use of serial ports higher than 9).
6. You are ready to proceed with a trial download.
